NBC Sports Live Extra is a web-based online television service operated by NBC Sports that broadcasts live events from the NBC television network, NBCSN, Golf Channel, and the company's regional networks (Comcast SportsNet). The application originally launched during the 2012 Summer Olympics, as ''NBC Olympics Live Extra'', and later re-launched that summer under its present name. Much like with chief competitors ESPN and Fox Sports, the Live Extra app requires authentication from participating television providers in order to access live programming. Live Extra is currently available only on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone smartphone and tablet devices, and the Apple TV and Roku streaming media players.
